Course Duration

12 Months

Course Description

This qualification combines practical work experience with theoretical study. Learners will be employed or placed in a dental practice (minimum 16 hours per week) where they will gain hands-on experience assisting dental professionals. Alongside, learners complete their online study modules to develop a deep understanding of dental nursing principles and practice.

The course prepares learners to work confidently as Dental Nurses and supports their application for General Dental Council (GDC) registration upon completion.


Placement Requirement

To successfully complete the qualification, a dental work placement must be secured.

  • The placement must meet the requirements set out in the course placement policy.

  • Students are responsible for obtaining their own placement, although Student Chat can offer guidance and employer introduction support.


Target Audience

  • Learners aged 16 and above who are eligible to work in the UK.

  • Individuals interested in pursuing a career in dental healthcare.

  • This programme is not an apprenticeship and is suitable for self-funded or employer-sponsored learners.

Entry Requirements

  • Minimum age: 16 years.

Initial Assessment

All learners will complete an in-house English and Maths assessment during enrolment to determine their current level and any additional support needs.

  3. Passport Photographs: Two recent passport-size photos.

  4. Proof of Address: Recent utility bill or official correspondence.

  • End-Point Assessment: Includes an interview and written essay evaluated by an NCFE assessor.

Exam support

The teaching day for live online lessons that are mandatory will be either a Tuesday or Wednesday and will be confirmed as soon as class numbers are established. 

This course is a regulated Dental Nursing Level 3 Diploma qualification. This means that are a number of legislations that we must follow in the course teachings. At the end of the course and after passing the exams, you will be able to register with the GDC (General Dental Council) as a Dental Nurse. Annual fees apply to registration.
